동명사 -> 동사원형 + ing

to부정사 -> to+동사원형

동작을 명사화한 것이다

동명사와 to부정사는 ~하는 것 또는 ~하기 라고 해석된다

영화를 보다 watch a movie

watching a movie

to watch a movie

소리지르다 yell

스페인어를 공부하다 study Spanish

studying Spanish

to study Spanish

프레드는 영화보기를 제안했어요

Fred watching a movie suggest

에이미는 프레드에게 소리 지른 것을 후회해요

언제 동명사를 언제 to부정사를 사용하나요?

1) 동명사와 to부정사를 가리는 동사

동명사만을 목적어로 취하는 동사

min, enjoy, finish , give up , avoid, etc

to 부정사만을 목적어로 취하는 동사

agree, want, hope, expect, plan, etc

2) 동명사와 to부정사 모두 목적어로 취하지만 의미상에 차이가 있는 동사

I stopped smoking 

I stopped to smoke

I remembered meeting 

3) 동명사와 to부정사 모두를 목적어로 취하며 그 둘의 의미상의 차이가 크지 않은 동사

I can't stant listening to the news

I can't stant to listen to the news

동명사는 보통 과거지향적

to 부정사는 미래지향적

to부정사만을 목적어로 취하는 동사

agree, want, hope, expect, plan, etc

I remembered meeting Susan

에이미는 프레드와 17년 전에 사귀기 시작했어요

go out with (date) 사귀다

Amy with Fred 17 years ago going out start
